I have never seen this documentary, but it's really fascinating, I don't know if it was ever shown on itv in the nineties , but it's really good I think the late 70s to the early 2000s was F1s golden era .

I have a few sporting passions in my life, one I play still at 53 which is Rugby, the others in no particular order cricket and F1, there is in my mind (my era) a simpatico of the best commentators. Those that are synonymous with their sport, but why? The TMS crew on cricket (too many to mention) but the late great Bill McLaren and of course the late Murray Walker. Why they had a mode/style/tempo that was and is unique to them individually, a deep interest (love?) respect for the participants/ players/racers. Most had had played or raced at some level. But what seems to be the winning methodology was the preparation prior to a match or race.

XC90 is not big suv, but a shitty aberration FWD pig 😂. That ovef 2ton car runs 99% of time using for traction ..FRONT WHEELS ONLY😂.. That is due to the most ssssstupid implementation of that haldex system which instead to run on axle which doesn't matter for propulsion (as it works on R8), is working on MAIN (rear) propulsion axle, making a GARBAGE from most of the cars which use it.

In my experience, carbon ceramics are a real pain in the arse, if you're daily driving around towns. Even the most sedate braking, from low speed, has passengers lurching forward against the seatbelt. Worse still, if you just use them for regular driving, they will glaze over. This then requires one to jump through hoops (with a series of acceleration to 70mph and braking hard, to the point of triggering the ABS) to restore the surface. Otherwise, one will suffer the embarrassment of pedestrians staring at you, in your expensive car, as you squeak your way down every high street and through every car park, with the cries of "You need new brakes mate!" ringing in your ears. I changed mine to steel, and damn to the lowered car value (since people seem to pay more for cars with CC brakes). With Ferrari and McLaren they come as standard. Otherwise, I'd never have them by choice. I don't thrash any car, so it's just not worth it, from that perspective; and, in my view, nothing but a negative for regular everyday use.

The only decent car McClaren ever built,obscene speed and smooth lines,now it's all about aero and electeronics....ah the good old days of analogue cars.

Clarkson needs to revisit all these countries in 2025. 😂

I could never drive those tiny, little, dinky tin cans you Europeans drive. I am scared to death of those little bitty cars. I've lived in Texas, USA, all my life. V8 and diesel trucks are king here. I drive a Ford F350 7.3L Diesel Crew Cab that weighs 7,740 lbs. I have never owned or driven a car or truck that didn't weigh at least 4,800 pounds. My large cars and trucks have saved my life SIX times in crashes with drunk drivers. Fuel may cost a lot. But I know I have a much greater chance at surviving a crash.

I had a MK 5 GTI which was a fantastic car. I sold it to a friend when it had 290,000 km on the dial. He still has it now with 400,000 km on the dial. 🥶Cheers!
